Can I Use Durock Under Laminate Flooring

I m getting ready to put travatine tile on a floor over plywood.

Can i use durock under laminate flooring.

The floor is uneven. Why not install the durock right over the existing floor. I realize the thinset would not bond well to the vinyl but do i care. Can i keep reuse the old underlayment or should i replace that too.
