Convert baseboard to radiant floor.
Can you convert baseboard heat to radiant floor heating.
Insulate well with reflective barrier batts to minimize downward heat loss.
Would there be a money saving improvement to install radiant heat on 1st floor even though there is baseboard heat or just install a comboheater like a polaris for saving through the use of a.
I guess i was thinking that while both are converting 100 of the energy into heat that the distribution of the heat would be better with radiant floor heating vs the baseboards and thus be more efficient considering the vaulted ceiling.
Then you will have to drain the system by opening the valve placed on the side of the boiler.
Anything is possible with hydronics but not always cost effective and seldom easy.

I have a split level with about 4 of crawl space open to floor joists below with finished ceramic tile floors above.
This condenses some of the combustion products allowing them to be burned again.
Imo plates are a must for radiant floors.
There are several ways of combining low temperature radiant floor heating with higher temperature distribution systems such as fin tube baseboard convectors.
Condensing boilers gain highest efficiency from a low temperature return.
Above all the system must be designed 1 to prevent condensation within the boiler and 2 with a specific type of control system.
A floor heating is more efficiently and you can convert your radiator to radiant floor heating but you must be aware that this job is very challenging.
You ll loose at least 30 efficiency without them.
Your boiler may be designed to run at higher temperatures than may be ideal for a radiant system.
I found a similar post on this subject and i m also looking to convert a baseboard register to a zone of in floor radiant heat but have a little different situation.
I m working on converting from baseboard to in floor radiant heating.
Radiant floor heating 1 systems come in two varieties.
Might i ask why the switch.
The heat the boiler produces is transferred to pex tubing carrying hot water beneath the home s flooring.
First you will need to switch your boiler off and allow it to cool if you want to avoid injuries.
It would have its own pump and i would recommend just using a thermostatic mixing valve to get your water temp down to the 100deg range give or take a little.
Now that i m thinking about it electric mat would be just as efficient as hydronic or baseboard.
With a radiant ceiling you can usually limit the headroom loss.
