Car Clutch Floor

If you suspect that there might be a problem with your clutch there is an easy way to determine whether that s where the issue is.

Do not attempt to start the engine and drive the vehicle with the clutch pedal stuck all the way to the floor. Failed clutch release bearing. Some racing clutches use small multi plate disk packs that are not part of the flywheel. Peer up at the top of the clutch pedal lever and you will see a pin or bolt holding the clutch lever to the actuating rod on the end of the master cylinder disconnect this. It won t come out of gear so i just brake.

When you depress the pedal you should also be able to change gears. All went well except after assembly i noticed my clutch pedal went to the floor. Failed clutch master cylinder. Open the drivers door and go headfirst into the footwell.

Clutches in typical cars are mounted directly to the face of the engine s flywheel as this already provides a convenient large diameter steel disk that can act as one driving plate of the clutch. Pull your pants up and cinch up your belt you are about to bend over. It should offer resistance as you push it toward the floor and stop shy of the actual floorboard.
