Where passing through a floor the cable shall be enclosed in rigid metal conduit intermediate metal conduit electrical metallic tubing schedule 80 pvc conduit or other approved means extending at least 150 mm 6 in above the floor.
Can i run conduit on floor behind kitchen cabinets.
The conduit is becoming dirt cheap too 15 for 50m looks neat too.
The cables are chased in to the wall above the level of the worktop but are simply surface mounted to the wall below the level of the worktop in mini trunking in some cases.
Kitchen was single storey annex at back of house.
A cable runs vertically down from one socket and then horizontally behind the kitchen cabinets maybe 30cm below the worktop level and then vertically up to the next socket.
I m working on a small kitchen refresh and i have to add a few receptacles to the counter space.
Yea there won t be any drywall behind it it curves to the center of the room.
Reminds me of a kitchen rewire i did recently.
They have those black plastic adjustable feet.
With clips in others.
Personally when routing cables behind kitchen cabinets i run them in 20mm conduit.
A later single storey extension had been built behind that.
Have started to use 20mm flexi conduit from socket to socket and using the raw pugs with the cable tie eyelets around the perimeter of the floor for holding the conduit in position then wire the lot in singles in the long run no pun intended it s quicker.
The plan is to extend the kitchen to take advantage of as much space as possible but this requires placing new cabinets over existing baseboard heaters.
What i m planning on doing is spacing the cabinets 1 1 2 out from the wall with a 2x4 and running the water and gas lines in that space.
Is it a code violation to run romex in the space underneath the cabinets or do i have to run ac90 or.
But the electrical needs to be buried in the wall at least where it exits from behind the cabinet and runs to the appliance outlets and up through the wall to the hood.
The cabinets are from ikea and already existing.
